I first took up triathlon at age 10 because I was already a competitive swimmer, and I love cycling, and the running seems easy. I also have a family background in swimming. The person who has had the most influence on my sporting career is my mum.
I currently train at the Singapore Sports School, and during an average training week, I spend 10 hours swimming, five hours biking, and four hours running. My personal best swim time (1500m) is 18:30. I have participated in ITU Youth Development programmes in Singapore and Australia. My favorite ITU race has been the 2009 World Champs in Gold Coast, because it was my first opportunity to mingle and race with world-class athletes from all over the world. My triathlon goal is to maximize my potential and achieve Ironman status.
The biggest obstacle which I have had to overcome is trying to excel in sports with my small size. Something the triathlon world may not know about me is that there are moments when I feel inspired to write poems.
