Bipartite invitations for the Tokyo 2020 Paralympic Games

World Triathlon is pleased to announce that the Tokyo 2020 Paralympic Games qualification period for Para triathlon has been successful and by now it is closed. After the allocation of spots, the Bipartite Commission (World Triathlon and IPC) has decided to offer an invitation to the following athletes:
PTWC-W: Wakako TSUCHIDA (JPN)
PTS2-W: Melissa STOCKWELL (USA)
PTS5-W: Petra LEVAY (HUN)
PTVI-W: Annouck CURZILLAT (FRA)
PTWC-M: Fathi ZWOUKHI (TUN)
PTS4-M: Jorge FONSECA (BRA)
PTS5-M: Ronan CORDEIRO (BRA)
PTVI-M: Anatolii VARFOLOMIEIEV (UKR)
From World Triathlon, the members of the Bipartite Invitation panel were:
- Ian Howard (World Triathlon Vice President)
- Antonio Arimany (World Triathlon Secretary General)
- Gergely Markus (World Triathlon Sports Director)
The main aspects the Bipartite Allocation considered were the following:
Performance of the athletes, according to competition results, to have the most competitive field
World Triathlon Paralympic Qualification Rankings
Specific head to head results of athletes applying for a slot in the same medal event
The most possible NPCs to be represented
All the qualification slots and Bipartite invitations have been communicated to the nations involved through their National Paralympic Committees. NPCs have until no later than next Monday 12th of July 23:59 CET, to confirm in writing to World Triathlon the use of all awarded slots.
