Bio

June 2019 life got turned up side down while running a half marathon. An inflammation on the brainstem paralysed the right side of my body. What followed were days spend in a hospital and a lot of questions of what caused this and whether I would stay this way of would regain my bodily functions. Fortunatly the last happened the most. Although not al my functionalities returned I learned to walk, talk and sport again. That didn’t last long unfortunatly. In October 2019 there was a new inflammation on my brainstem and the left side was paralysed. My emotional system was also disfunctioning. The diagnosis of Multiple Sclerosis (MS) was a fact. I started all over again for the second time and decided that what ever would happen I was going to sport again. The first goal was to finish the half marathon I couldn’t finish. Exactly one year later, 16-6-2020, I ran that half marathon. It was during the corona pandemic, so it was no real event like the year before. Just me and my personal half marathon. After that huge personal victory I wanted a new goal. Since I started swimming during my recovery period and already was a fan of cycling and running the step to a thriathlon was made. I started training, joined a club and got to now my ‘new’ body a lot better. In april 2022 I finished my first 1/8th triathlon and in may 2022 I gave everything during a quarter triathlon. Since then I’m hooked to the sport and found a great spot in the team of the DutchTriathlon association (NTB). In 2023 I went to my first World Cups and got to experience international racing. This year I want to participate in a lot more international races and big tournaments.
